not on these streets
where children murder children
cops murder civilians
and judges say it's justified
cause justice lies to the people
claiming to be fair and equal
when it's really lethal
delivering fatal blows
creating single parent homes
putting lives on hold
until scientific evidence
or curious law classes
presents evidence of innocence
cause we're all guilty until proven innocent
plus the best defense the poor can afford
is a court appointed defense
and when it comes to battles
you can tell the difference
between those that are drafted
and those that enlist
there's something sick about
a society that punishes a man found guilty of murder
by taking his life, right?
well, what's the difference between that and locking him up for life?
maybe i think too much
could be making a big deal out of nothing
but i see suffering
in the eyes of my people
there's a contained rage
looking for anyway to escape
what happens to a dream slaughtered?
how long can one carry hope
before they realize that life without hope
means there's less of a chance to be disappointed?
